  • In 2010, Boley Centers was awarded $2.3 million Pathways Out of Poverty grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • Earned CARF reaccreditation for eligible programs in 2009. This is the seventh CARF accreditation for the Agency which currently has 14 programs and services accredited.
  • In 2009, Boley Centers received a Capital Improvement grant from the Vetersn Administration, along with funds from the City of Clearwater and Boley Centers, for the renovation of the agency's Covert Apartments.
  • In 2009, financing was secured through a State of Florida's Homeless Housing Assistance program grant and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta for the development of Broadwater Place and Laurel Trace Apartments.
  • In 2009, the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development's Neighborhood Stabilization Program, funded through the City of St. Petersburg, enabled Boley Centers to purchase Burlington Garden Apartments.
  • In 2009, the future Robert Pitts Villas were named Boley Centers' first "green" certified property.  Once built, the property will be certified green by the National Association of Home Builders.
  • In 2008, Boley Centers was honored by the Fannie Mae Foundation and the Partnership to End Long Term Homelessness (PELTH) with a $10k award for its Pinellas County Safe Haven.  Awards were given to 14 organizations throughout the United States for their efforts to prevent and end homelessness. 
  • In 2008, The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development gave Boley Centers a HUD Best Practices Award for the agency’s outstanding contribution to HUD’s strategic goal of promoting decent and affordable housing.
  • In 2008, The Florida Supportive Housing Coalition honored Boley Centers with the Developer of the Year Award for the agency’s opening of Clam Bayou Apartments and its long history of successful and dedicated services to individuals who are homeless and have a mental illness.
  • In 2008, The Florida Coalition for the Homeless recognized Boley Centers for their commitment to end homelessness in the State of Florida.
  • Earned CARF reaccreditation for eligible programs in 2006. This is the sixth CARF accreditation for the Agency which currently has 17 programs are services accredited.
  • In 2006 the agency was awarded a “Best Practice” award from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for promoting affordable housing.
  • In 2005, because of Boley Centers’ national reputation for providing a Best Practice” Supported Employment Program, we were chosen as one of 24 national sites to participate in a research study with Westat.  Funded via the Social Security Administration, the study will investigate how best to get people who have mental illnesses into employment.
  • In 2005, Boley Centers celebrated its 35th Anniversary of providing services to residents of Pinellas County. The celebration honored departing Board Member and founder, Mary Koenig.
  • In 2004, Boley Centers held its inaugural Recovery Fest and Alumni Picnic for consumers of the agency's mental health services.
  • In 2004, students in the YouthBuild Midtown Construction Training Program completed the construction (under the guidance of General Contractor, Rowe & Newberry) of a three bedroom, two bathroom single family home in St. Peters burg. The home was subsequently sold to a local family who was at, or below, 80% of the area’s median income.
  • In 2004, Boley Centers’ Jack Humburg was named the Outstanding Community Advocate of the Year by the Florida Independent Living Council in Tallahassee.
  • In 2004, Boley Centers’ John Wagenstein, Marcy MacMath and the FACT Team received IRIS awards from NAMI Pinellas for their commitment to improving the lives of individuals with psychiatric disabilities.
  • Earned CARF reaccreditation for eligible programs in 2003. This is the fifth CARF accreditation for the Agency which currently has 11 programs accredited.
  • In 2003, 17 staff members received their Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) designation through IAPSRS, bringing the Agency’s total to 20 certified staff.  In 2004, nine additional staff members received the CPRP designation, bringing the total to 29.
  • In 2003, Boley Centers’ Housing Manager, John German, was awarded the Florida Rehabilitation Practitioner of the Year award and FACT Team RN, Junior Bentham, was awarded the IAPSRS Direct Service Provider of the Year award. In 2002, Boley Centers received the "Friend of Community Development" award from the Florida Community Development Association.
  • In 2002, Boley Centers' Dome District Apartments were cited in the US Conference of Mayors' publication on exemplary HOME initiatives as a best practices project providing safe, decent and affordable housing for individuals with mental disabilities."
  • In 2001, the Agency's Residential Program was cited by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill - Florida as one of seven model programs in the State of Florida.
  • In 2001, received a Special Recognition Award from the Florida Housing Coalition for outstanding achievement in creating community-based housing opportunities for Floridians with developmental disabilities.  
  • Since 1999, Boley Center's Young Adult Program (YAP) has annually exceeded the State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice's
  • Quality Assurance Standards and earned deemed status. Earned CARF reaccreditation for eligible programs in 2001. This is the fourth CARF accreditation for the Agency. Currently 11 programs are accredited.
  • Boley Centers' Vocational Program was one of 24 programs nationwide to be named a best practices employment program by the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities in 2000.
  • Received a HUD Best Practices Award for Boley's Homeless Programs in 1999.
  • Awarded HUD Best Practices for the Home Ownership Program in 1998.
  • In 1996, Boley received a national grant in conjunction with the Florida Mental Health Institute to allow for replication of its homeless programs throughout the country.
  • In 1992, Boley Centers dispatched staff to be part of Disaster Response Teams to assist the State of Florida with the tragic effects of Hurricane Andrew.
  • In 1991, Boley Centers' Supported Employment Program was recognized by the Dole and J.M. Foundations as being one of the 12 best community-based rehabilitation programs in the country for individuals with disabilities.
  • Boley Centers was named as one of two programs in the State of Florida providing exemplary services in the 1988 and 1990 editions of the publication, Care of the Seriously Mentally Ill: A Rating of State Programs.
  • Boley Centers was chosen as a Supported Employment pilot project by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation in 1987. Since its inception, over 1,800 individuals have been served by the program.
  • Introduced the Annual Jingle Bell Run in 1982 which is now the 3rd largest running event in the Tampa Bay area and the Agency's top fund raiser.
